REVIEWS
in this section you can find reviews of old and possibly new noisecore /
dirty grind records. More will be updated when time allows. There might be classics what
many people know, but also rarities what are impossible to get.
Anal Fist "Flying Sandwich" 7" (reviewed August 2004)
I've been looking for this 7" for more than 10 years. About 10 years ago I got copy
through tape trading, but very low quality. Never heard of anyone actually owning this
slab of vinyl. Released back in 1989 by Jason Records (ger) as limited & hand numbered
edition of 250 copies only. Merely knowing that this includes 786 songs of noisecore, and
seeing members of W.B.I. wearing ANAL FIST shirt in band photos assured this will be
something very nice.
When finally managed to get hold of the original 7", I was amused. It was just as I
hoped: All the lay-out and spirit of the 7" is very clumsy and rough. Xeroxed cover,
hand written sides "Oral" and "Anal" on labels. And funny thing is
that cover has text: "THESE BAND'S YOU CAN FORGET: Napalm Death, Carcass, Patareni,
Atta, Seven Minutes of Nausea, Fear of God, Electro Hippies... ANAL FIST IS THE FASTEST
BAND OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". But in reality, they aren't even too
fast. It sounds something like Deche-Charge meets Traci Lords Loves Noise (Although AF
existed before them). Short tracks, but very sloppy and muddy, with loud vomiting vocals
and rumbling guitar. It's quite hard to believe there is exact number of songs or if
anyone is willing to count are they for real. But no matter what, AF manages to deliver
you amazingly unbalanced mix of instruments (often vocals are very loud compared to music,
and both sides sound different as well), first side has quite slow drum blasts and 2nd
like machinegun, unless they would be so buried in mix. AF uses drum machine so that quite
good it's not mixed so loud. While bands like Anal Cunt, Fear of God, Patareni and such
can attract also grindcore, hc/punk and even metalheads due their musical brutal approach,
Anal Fist is the kind of bands that probably does not. You have to be real noisecore
maniac to appreciate this excellent piece of audio filth. Absolutely one of the jewels of
old noisecore vinyls!!

Crawl Noise 7" (reviewed may 2003)
This is extreme noisecore from switzerland, released in '89. 3 member line-up, whose
joined Fear Of God in '87. Most of the sound of Crawl Noise comes from extreme vocals. Or
maybe extreme isn't best word. Better to say LOUD. When songs start, you hear drumsticks
giving mark and after that it's pretty much the vocals what you hear. Vocals in demo side
are low growls with plenty of distortion. Guitar is pretty much unheard while noise is
going on, but you can sense some cymbals and drums behind the distorted growls. Even in
live recording on the other side, "music" remains quite buried, but can be heard
little better. I like this 7" a lot, but can't be recommended for those into
"well produced noisecore" due it's lo-fi sounds and quite sloppy playing.

Noise / Ex-Threma Aflicao Chruel -split 7" (reviewed may 2003)
This is released in year 2000, but includes old material. Noise presents 20 tracks
recorded in 1993. Great old school noisecore with very little of musical influences.
Sometimes they start with punky midpaced tempo, but within seconds it erupts to full
blast. Two vocalists deal with the growls and screams, and drummer keeps up tempo what
doesn't lost to Anal Cunt or other fames. Sound is excellent and raw, in Brasilian
tradition. Each of the songs include lyrics, with comments of decaying society. Noise's
underground attitude is very strict. Many of the releases are not meant to be sold, only
obtained by trade. Releases include list of type of people who should not own the record,
including "everybody what to have nothing to do with the fucking underground".
Noise is among the best bands what South American noisecore scene has ever spawned, and
that's a high compliment!
Ex-Therema Aflicao Chruel is even older material. Dating back to 1989. 52 tracks of dirty
sounding noisecore blast. Definitely tape recorder has been used. I can't imagine any
trackers or such to obtain this dirty sound and we're also talking about rehearsal
recording. You hear once in a while when they push pause on and the "click" and
return to play. It's awesome. No jokes, just short aggressive explosions of noise.
Feedback and other surface hiss and fuzz sounds also great between the tracks.
This 7" is essential for any noisecore maniac and it is even possible to get these
days, so keep on looking!

more coming!
